Rush Enterprises, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the retail of transportation and construction equipment and related services in the southern United States. The company operates two segments, Truck and Construction Equipment. The Truck segment operates a regional network of Rush truck centers to provide retail sales of new and used trucks, aftermarket parts sales, service and repair facilities, financing, leasing and rental, and insurance products; and sells property and casualty insurance, including collision and liability insurance on trucks, cargo insurance, and credit life insurance. As of December 31, 2007, it had 45 truck centers in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas. The Construction Equipment segment operates as John Deere equipment center in Houston, Texas to offer construction equipment dealership operations, including equipment rentals and the financing of new and used equipment. The company provides backhoe loaders, hydraulic excavators, crawler-dozers, trailers, and four-wheel drive loaders; and leasing and rental services for heavy-duty cranes and refuse haulers. It also offers installation of equipment, equipment repair, parts installation, and paint and body repair to commercial vehicles; and operates tire stores in three locations in Texas for use on Class 8 trucks. Rush Enterprises, Inc. was founded in 1965 and is headquartered in New Braunfels, Texas.
