Israel Accuses Iran of Complicity in Embassy Attacks

On Monday the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, blamed Iran of involvement in the two attacks on Israeli embassies in India and Georgia which resulted in injuring two Israelis, one of them a woman. Netanyahu, while addressing members of his rightwing Likud Party, said that Iran is behind the attacks on the embassies as it is the largest exporter of terror around the world. The Israeli leader said that in recent months, a number of attempts were made to inflict harm on Jews and Israelis in places like Thailand and Azerbaijan, which were conducted by Iran and its ally, the Shiite militia of Lebanon, Hezbollah. He said that in all these incidents of violence, Iran was found involved along with its proxy, Hezbollah. He added that Israel would carry on its effort with a firm hand to stamp out all the terror that was emanating from Iran.

These remarks came just a short while after a car outside the Israeli embassy in the Indian capital, New Delhi, exploded in a ball of fire that resulted in causing injuries to two people, one of whom was an Israeli lady. In another incident, the Georgian interior ministry confirmed that in the capital Tbilisi, the police defused an explosive device which was found placed in the car of an Israeli diplomat. The attacks have come amid death anniversaries of two top leaders of Hezbollah, that include Imad Mughniyeh and Abbas Musawi. This event every year evokes travel warnings by Israel.

Israel was blamed for the deaths of the men and escalated fears of revenge by Hezbollah, a Shiite militia, which enjoys very cordial relations with Iran.
