Reports Say Kenny Chesney Looking To Drop Label To Go Mainstream
January 16 Jan 2012 | 11:56
Kenny Chesney is wanting out of his deal with Sony-based BNA Records and is shopping a $30 million, 5-record deal to EMI, Universal and Warner.
A source said Chesney is very displeased with how Sony has handled him, adding that he wants to be more mainstream.
Executives were reported to be “in shock” over the price. A source cracked a joke saying welcome to the world of Kenny Chesney.
His manager stated that this is very inaccurate. They don’t have any plans to be anything but a country-music artist … Also, they have enjoyed a long-term, successful relationship with Sony … The numbers being spoke about and Warner Bros., etc., are purely rumors that are far from the truth.
